Columbia Behavioral Services is committed to providing assistance to parents and students in need of behavioral support and special education advocacy services. Consulting services provided by Columbia Behavioral Services will ensure student rights and success in educational settings.
IEP Compliance and Support
The Individual Educational Program (IEP) is a student's educational plan in the school system. Columbia Behavioral Services provides a wide assortment of services related to the IEP. Examples of consulting services available are: evaluation of existing IEP and effectiveness, parental assistance at IEP meetings, explanations of student rights as they relate to IEP services and school responsibilities to the student and family.
Functional Behavioral Assessments
It is imperative to have a current, independent Functional Behavioral Assessment to truly understand what the student needs academically and/or behaviorally at school and at home. This assessment includes academic testing.
Behavioral Help
We offer behavioral services for students and parents as needed to assist with behavior issues that are present at school or perhaps at home. It is important to understand that behavioral concerns are valid and that we are here for you. You are not alone.
School Discipline
Students receiving special education services are entitled to certain protections relating to suspensions and expulsions in the school system. When discipline issues arise parents need an advocate in their corner. Columbia Behavioral Services will work for the student and family in the educational setting
After High School Transition Planning
Columbia Behavioral Services provides students and parents with a custom transition plan for higher education and technical schools. The plan includes skills assessment, current academic review, accommodations and services available in the colleges or universities. It is never too early to start college planning.
